Platinum Ice pro palette by Jeffree Star Cosmetics

I'm back with another Jeffree Star Cosmetics product! By now, I've pretty much tried Jeffree's whole brand - minus the Lip Amunitions which don't interest me because I almost never wear tube lipsticks.  Released as a part of the 2017 Holiday collection, the Platinum Ice Skin Frost palette is the cool toned sister of the 24 Karat Skin Frost palette - these might now be a part of the permanent collection but, don't quote me on that.

À présent, j'ai presque essayé la marque entière de Jeffree - sauf les Lip Amunitions qui ne m'intéressent pas parce que je ne porte presque jamais de rouge à lèvres en bâton. Faisant partie de la collection Holiday 2017, la palette Platinum Ice Skin Frost est la soeur au tons froids de la palette 24 Karat Skin Frost - je crois qu'elle fait maintenant partie de la collection permanente, mais ne me citez pas là-dessus.

Although the packaging is made of cardboard, I was surprised by how sturdy it was compared to the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill collab - no shade here, just comparison. It holds six highlighters including a topper which can be used on its own or over other highlighters. Just like all the JSC products, this palette is vegan and cruelty free and can be used everywhere (eyes, face and body). 

Bien que l'emballage soit en carton, j'ai été surpris par sa robustesse par rapport à la collab Morphe X Jaclyn Hill - pas de shade ici, juste une comparaison. Elle contient six illuminateurs, y compris un topper qui peut être utilisé seul ou par dessus d'autres illuminateurs. Comme tous les produits JSC, cette palette est vegan et sans cruauté et peut être utilisée partout (yeux, visage et corps).

Out of the six shades, two were already released in a single pan (Ice Cold and Lavender Snow) and, unlike the 24 Karat, these shades works very well for my fair complexion. The formula is very creamy to touch - creamier than most pressed highlighters - and blends into the skin beautifully. Tips: for an even more blinding highlight, spray some setting spray and apply when still wet. 

Sur les six nuances, deux étaient déjà sortis dans un compacte seuls (Ice Cold et Lavender Snow) et, contrairement au 24 Karat, ces nuances fonctionnent très bien pour mon teint clair. La formule est très crémeuse au toucher - plus crémeuse que la plupart des illuminateurs pressés - et se fond parfaitement dans la peau. Astuces: pour un glow encore plus aveuglant, vaporiser un peu de fixatif à maquillage et appliquez quand il est encore humide.

Androgyny eye shadow palette by Jeffree Star Cosmetics

After testing - and falling in love - with JSC's Velours liquid lipsticks, I decided to try something else from his cosmetic line. Today, I'm coming back with the Androgyny eye shadow palette! I've had my eyes on this palette ever since I walked into Eleganza last fall to check out the liquid lipsticks. This palette is like nothing I own. It's colorful but, toned down and not too bright. 

Après avoir testé - et adoré - les rouges à lèvres liquides Velours de JSC, j'ai décidé d'essayer quelque chose d'autre de sa ligne de cosmétiques. Aujourd'hui, je vous reviens avec la palette d'ombre à paupières Androgyny! J'avais un oeil sur cette palette depuis que je suis entré chez Eleganza l'automne dernier pour jeté un oeil au les rouges à lèvres liquides. Cette palette est comme rien que je possède. Elle est coloré mais, les tons sont atténués et pas trop vifs.

I was impressed by the size of the pans (3.5 cm X 3.5 cm) which is bigger than most eye shadows from other brands. You won't hit pan the first time you dip in with this one! The palette contain three different eye shadow finishes: six mattes, two shimmers and two satins. The mattes are very smooth and easy to blend. The only shade I had a little trouble with was Military but, nothing I couldn't fix. The texture of the shimmer shades reminds me of the Skin Frosts highlighters from JSC; they are buttery and almost feels like a cream. The satin shades (Charm and Fetish) blends to a matte finish despite the little shimmers you see in the pan. 

J'ai été impressionné par la taille des fards (3,5 cm x 3,5 cm) qui est plus grande que la plupart des ombres à paupières d'autres marques. Vous ne toucherez pas le fond la première fois que vous l'utiliser avec celle-ci! La palette contient trois finis de fards différents: six mattes, deux irisés et deux satinés. Les fards mattes sont très smooth et faciles à estomper. Le seul fards avec lequel j'ai eu un peu de problème était Military, mais rien que je ne pouvais arranger. La texture des fards irisés me rappelle les illuminateurs Skin Frosts de JSC; ils ont presque la texture d'un fards crème. Les fards satinées (Charm et Fetish) s'estompent en finit matte malgré les petits reflets que vous voyez dans les fards.

Frosting: Shimmery light gold with a slight yellow-green undertone. / Or pâle irisé avec un sous ton jaune-vert.

Safe Word: Matte cool tone taupe. / Taupe mat au ton froid. 

Charm: Satin tangerine. / Tangerine avec fini satiné.

Déjà Vu: Shimmery deep copper. / Cuivre foncé irisé.

Dominatrix: Matte warm tone brown. / Brun mat chaud.

Androgyny: Matte deep mauve. / Mauve foncé mat.

Fetish: Satin deep red with pink reflects. / Rouge foncé satiné avec reflets rose.

Military: Matte light olive green with yellow undertone. / Olive pâle avec un sous ton jaune mat. 

Poison: Matte teal. / Bleu sarcelle mat. 

Swallow: Matte deep cyan blue. / Bleu cyan foncé mat.

After playing for a little over a week with this palette, I can say it became one of my favorites. You can create so many looks with it! I don't have a tons of colorful mattes in my collection - they aren't easy to find - so it's a good addition. Next step: the Skin frosts!

Après avoir joué pendant un peu plus d'une semaine avec cette palette, je peux dire que c'est devenu l'un de mes préférés. Vous pouvez créer une tonne de looks avec! Je n'ai pas beaucoup de fards mats colorées dans ma collection - ils ne sont pas faciles à trouver - donc c'est une bonne addition. Prochaine étape: les Skin Frosts!

Here's nine men who made a name for themselves in the beauty industry.

PATRICK SIMONDAC

Filipino-American Patrick Simondac is a YouTube beauty expert and professional freelance makeup artist, better known as Patrick Starrr. In his career, Patrick had the chance to work with Katy Perry, Jessie J, Shay Mitchell and, more recently, Kim Kardashian (see on his channel). IN 2017, he won the award for Beauty at the 2017 Streamy Awards and, back in December, launched his first ever collab with no other than MAC Cosmetics. Fun fact, one of  Patrick's first jobs was at a MAC store! Now, he has his collab in their store.

JEFFREE STAR 

If you don't know Jeffree yet, where have you been? From MySpace star to CEO of Jeffree Star Cosmetics, Jeffree has come a long way. Extravagant and colorful, his eye looks are what he is most know for. Between new launches from JSC and uploading videos on YouTube, Jeffree launched a collab with Jouer Cosmetics - a bright pink lip topper with glitters that reminded me of the iconic Jeffree Star bright pink hair.

MARIO DEDIVANOVIC

Other than doing beautiful glam on Kim Kardashian, Mario has his own makeup classes around the world called The Masterclass by Mario Dedivanovic. In the past, Mario launched a collaboration with Anastasia Beverly Hills who sadly isn't available anymore. This year, Mario will star as a judge in the reality Glam Masters alongside Kandee Johnson, Zanna Roberts Rassi (Milk Makeup's founder) and Laverne Cox, set to premiere on February 28th at 10/9c on Lifetime.

En plus de faire du beau glam sur Kim Kardashian, Mario a ses propres cours de maquillage à travers le monde appelé The Masterclass de Mario Dedivanovic. Dans le passé, Mario a lancé une collaboration avec Anastasia Beverly Hills qui, malheureusement, n'est plus disponible. Glitter and glow, his glam is always on point and blended to perfection. #Goals In the past, Angel has collabed with Morphe on a brush set who is now sold out.

STAN WINSTON

American television and film special make-up effects creator, Stan Winston is the man behind Edward Scissorhands, Avatar, Jurassic Parks, Alien, Iron Man - and more. Although his initial career plan was acting, he didn't go too far from his original goal. Winner of four Academy Awards, Stan was specialized in makeup, puppets and practical effects.

Stan Winston est l'homme derrière Edward au Mains d'Argents, Avatar, Jurassic Parks, Alien, Iron Man - et plus encore. Bien que son plan de carrière initial ait acteur, il n'est pas allé trop loin de son but initial. Lauréat de quatre Oscars, Stan s'est spécialisé dans le maquillage, les marionnettes et les effets pratiques.

MANNY GUTIEREZ

Also known as Manny MUA, Manny was the first male brand ambassador for Maybelline and second male to be chosen as a spokesperson for a beauty brand after James Charles in 2016 for Covergirl. Over the past years, Manny had launched quite a few collab in the beauty world going from Ofra (lipsticks), Jeffree Star Cosmetics (liquid lipsticks+highlighters) and Makeup Geek (eye shadow palette). In 2018, Manny is planning to launch his own brand: Lunar Beauty.

American drag queen, makeup artist, model, recording artist, Kurtis is mostly known with his stage name of Miss Fame. Old participant of Ru Paul's Drag Race's seventh season, Kurtis continued his journey, taking a path to music before heading back to beauty industry as a celebrity makeup artist in New York while modeling and performing as Miss Fame.

Drag queen américain, maquilleur, mannequin chanteur, Kurtis est surtout connu avec son nom de scène: Miss Fame. Ancien participant de la septième saison de Ru Paul's Drag Race, Kurtis a continué sa carrière, prenant un chemin vers la musique avant de retourner à l'industrie de la beauté en tant que maquilleur de célébrités à New York tout en performant et mannequinant en tant que Miss Fame.

Makeup on Reagen (Linda Blair) from The Exorcist (1973)

DICK SMITH 

Aka the man behind the horror cult: The Exorcist (1973), was specialized in development of prosthetic makeup. Back when he started, prosthetic face masks were made in one piece but Smith made them in three foam latex piece. His technique allowed the actor to use their full range of facial expressions. Today, Smith's method became the standard method for applying facial prosthetic. The Exorcist was Smith's career starter. With this film, he showed that makeup wasn't just about making people look scary or old but, had different applications. The spinning head, the swelling welts on Reagen's stomach...and the projectile vomit.

Aka l'homme derrière le culte de l'horreur: The Exorcist (1973), était spécialisé dans le développement du maquillage prothétique. À l'époque où il a commencé, les masques faciaux prothétiques étaient été fabriqués en une seule pièce, mais Smith les a faits en trois morceaux de mousse de latex. Sa technique a permis aux acteurs d'utiliser toute leur gamme d'expressions faciales. Aujourd'hui, la méthode de Smith est devenue la méthode standard pour l'application des prothétiques faciale. L'Exorciste était le démarreur de carrière de Smith. Avec ce film, il a montré que le maquillage ne consistait pas seulement à rendre les gens effrayants ou vieux, mais avait des applications différentes. DUNCAN JARMAN

Two time Emmy-winning American make-up artist for his works on Alice in the Wonderland (1999) and Arabian Nights (2000), Duncan is the artist behind Leonardo DiCaprio's infamous bear attack wounds makeup (seen above) in The Revenant (which earned him a nomination at the 2016's Oscars) - one of the best FX makeup in my opinion. He also participated to Voldemort's makeup application on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one and two and made some work on Game of Thrones. Jeffree Star Cosmetics's Velour liquid lipsticks

Back in October, Jeffree Star Cosmetics arrived in Canada in Eleganza stores and, let me tell you, it was a very exciting moment. No need to pay for annoying shipping and you can swatch them before buying. If you're from the Scene/MySpace era, you've probably heard of Jeffree Star way before he launched his cosmetic line. He used to tour with bands on Warped Tour and released music back in 2009. Every scene kids knew about him, no exceptions. In 2014, the firsts Velour liquid lipstick launched and ever since, people are raving about them. Three years later, I decided to jump on the band wagon to see what the hype is about.

En Octobre dernier, Jeffree Star Cosmetics est arrivé au Canada dans les boutiques Éléganza et, laissez-moi vous dire, c'était un grand moment. Plus besoin de payer de frais de transport et tu peux tout swatcher avant d'acheter. Si vous étiez present sur MySpace, vous avez probable ment déjà entendu parler de Jeffree Star avant qu'il lance sa ligne de cosmétique. Il a fait parti du Warped Tour pendant quelques années et a sorti de la musique en 2009. Tous les scene kids le connaissait, sans exception. En 2014, les premiers rouge à lèvres liquide Velours sont sorti et depuis, tous le monde les adorent. Trois ans plus tard, j'ai décidé de les essayer.

Although I am not a huge fan of the color pink, I find the packaging very sleek and unique. The rose gold lettering and stars with the bright pink cap (throwback to Jeffree's iconic pink hair) definitely stands out in a makeup collection. The whole line is cruelty-free and the Velour liquid lipsticks can be used on both lips and eyes. The first thing I noticed when I opened the tube: the smell. Rootbeer float (as claimed on Jeffree's website) is not a scent for me. The scent disappears as it dries. The doe foot applicator is the perfect size and shape. No lip liners needed!

Bien que je ne sois pas fan de la couleur rose, je trouve que le packaging est très élégant et unique. Le lettrage rose gold et les étoiles avec le bouchon rose flash (throwback au cheveux rose iconic de Jeffree) se démarque dans une collection de maquillage. Aucun des ses produits sont testé sur les animaux et les rouge à lèvres Velours peuvent être utiliser sur les lèvres et yeux. La première chose que j'ai remarqué quand j'ai ouvert le tube: l'odeur. Crème glacé à la rootbeer (tel dit sur le site de Jeffree) n'est pas pour moi. L'odeur s'évapore quand il sèche. L'applicateur doe foot est de la forme et taille parfaite. Pas besoin de crayon à lèvres!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour liquid lipstick in Mannequin

This shade was my first choice when I glanced at the collection. Although I already own a collection of nude lipsticks, I had to get Mannequin. It's the perfect pink-y nude. Not too light nor too pink. It's the perfect nude for a smokey eye or colorful look. Annabelle's lip liner in the shade Buff is a perfect match.

Cette couleur était mon premier choix quand j'ai regardé la collection. Bien que je possède déjà beaucoup de rouge à lèvres nude, je devais avoir Mannequin. C'est le nude rosé parfait. Pas trop pâle, not trop rose. J'adore le porter avec un smokey eye ou un maquillage plus coloré. Le crayon à lèvres Buff d'Annabelle est un match parfait.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour liquid lipstick in Celebrity Skin

Alongside Unicorn Blood, Celebrity Skin is one of the cult shades of the brand. It's a soft brown nude with a peachy undertone. On me, it looks more of a darker nude but, oh well! I love wearing this shade with more warm toned, bronze-y looks.

Au côté d'Unicorn Blood, Celebrity Skin est une des teinte culte de la marque. C'est un brun doux nude avec un sous tons pêche. Sur moi, il est plus un nude foncé. J'aime le porté avec des tons chauds ou neutre/bronze-y.

The application is very smooth and opaque with only one coat. I was very impressed. I wore it all day last week and it was still intact when I came home. I still need to try them on the eyes but, there's no doubt I will purchase more shades in the future - talking about you Androgyny , I'm Nude and No Tea, No Shade. Next step, the Skin Frosts and the Androgyny eye shadow palette!

L'application est très lisse et opaque en un passage sur les lèvres. J'était très impressionné. Je l'ai porté toute la journée la semaine passé et mon rouge à lèvres était encore intacte au soir. Je ne les ai pas encore testé sur les yeux mais, je vais sans aucun doute acheter d'autre couleurs - je parle de toi Androgyny, I'm Nude et No Tea, No Shade. Prochaine étape, les Skin Frosts et la palette d'ombre à paupières Androgyny!
